Seamstress/Tailor
Island Custom Upholstery – Oak Harbor, WA
$18 – $20 an hour
The Perfect Fit is a small, locally owned business in Oak Harbor, WA. We employ a diverse staff, and specialize in leatherwork, military uniform alterations, and machine embroidery. Additionally, we take on casualwear alterations, formal alterations, and any alteration our equipment allows.
We are looking to employ an experienced seamstress/tailor to mend and alter garments and other fabric-made articles according to customers’ needs. The responsibilities include replacing buttons, zippers, pockets, and linings, sewing military uniforms to specifications, hemming dresses and jeans, and modifying garment styles based on customers’ specifications.
The right candidate should demonstrate sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques. Knowledge and practice with industrial sewing machines is necessary. Candidate should be able to communicate pricing, timing, and the alterations process to customers via phone and in-person. Ultimately, an outstanding seamstress should be able to achieve exceptional customer service and ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
